When it comes to sparking joy, it’s likely that the laundry room does not. And I know I’m not alone here. The laundry room tends to be one of the most overlooked rooms in the house. If you’re like me, the floor is piled high with clothes and towels and the cupboards are stuffed with cleaning tools and products.
Luckily there is a way to bring joy back into your utility space with a little laundry room refresh. This doesn’t require a massive overhaul, just a little time spent reorganizing, finding storage solutions and investing in some high quality linens. The result? A much cleaner, happier space that you won’t mind spending a little time in. You might even start enjoying those Sunday chores.
Like many of you, I’m guilty of creating stock in bath towels and using them until they’re falling apart. The first step in bringing some life back to your laundry room is to invest in new towels. Made from 100% organic cotton, the Organic Turkish Towels are super plush and absorbent, come in four different sizes and are perfect for everyday use. I love to mix them with some Rumelia Towels and a Pera Bath Rug to add a little print and color.

Laundry can get messy, especially if it hasn’t been done in weeks. My favorite way to keep dirty clothes and towels organized (and out of sight) is with Raffia Lidded Baskets. Handmade and fair trade, these baskets serve as great storage containers, plus they’re easy on the eyes too. If you can fit two of them in your laundry room, they’re perfect for separating darks and lights.
Laundry room sinks are great for hand washing delicate garments, soaking tough stains and cleaning up messes. To freshen up this area I like to use my favorite hand soap by Maison Louis Marie. It smells amazing and the natural, organic ingredients keep hardworking hands soft and moisturized. Adding greenery is one of the best ways to brighten up a space. Since most laundry rooms are on the smaller side, opt for a small succulent arrangement. Not only will it spark joy, but it’s super easy to care for.
